Capitols Name Former Indianapolis Colts Kicker
Mike Vanderjagt Head Coach & General Manager
The Indianapolis Capitols today announced the hiring of former Indianapolis Colts player Mike Vanderjagt as the team’s Head Coach and General Manager. Vanderjagt is a former nine-time NFL Pro-Bowl Kicker who also played for the Dallas Cowboys.
Vanderjagt will be leading one of the most decorated teams in the history of the
Continental Football League. The Capitols captured the last Continental Cup in 1969 in a
44-38 sudden-death overtime win over the San Antonio Toros, in one of the signature games of that era of professional football.
In addition to his on-field duties, Vanderjagt will serve as General Manager under Team President and Managing Partner Lauren Boczek. Through their leadership, the Capitols
will build out ownership, sponsorship and community partnerships across Central Indiana.
Mike Vanderjagt spent nine seasons in the NFL as a kicker for the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys. During the 2003 season, he made history when he became the first kicker to convert every field goal and PAT during the regular season and playoffs. When he retired from the league in 2006, he did so as the NFL’s most accurate field goal kicker.
Vanderjagt additionally spent four years in the CFL, with the Toronto Argonauts and the Saskatchewan Roughriders, winning two Grey Cups as well as the Dick Sudeman Trophy in 1996. He is the only player to ever lead the CFL and NFL in scoring.
A native of Ontario, Canada, Mike was an early athletic standout, and his dedication
to achieving success earned him a scholarship to Michigan State University.
He eventually transferred - landing at West Virginia University - where he
became the starting punter in his junior year and the starting kicker in his senior year.
Capitols Tap Canadian Football Hall of Fame Quarterback
For Offensive Coordinator
Canadian Football Hall of Fame member and former CFL Quarterback Damon Allen is joining
Coach Mike Vanderjagt’s staff as Offensive Coordinator. Allen is a four-time Grey Cup Champion and three-time Grey Cup Most Valuable Player. In 2005, he was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player
at 42 years old. He is one of the greatest CFL quarterbacks of all time.
During Allen’s 23 years in the CFL, he tallied 72,381 passing yards, making him professional football’s
all-time leading passer at the time of his retirement. He also ranks third on the all-time CFL rushing yards list with 11,920 yards. In 2006, he was voted one of the CFL’s Top 50 Players of the league’s modern era by Canadian sports network The Sports Network/TSN.
Allen was inducted into Canada’s Football Hall of Fame in 2012 and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2018. After announcing his retirement in 2008, Allen went on to launch the Damon Allen Quarterback Academy where he personally teaches the skills and strategies of the quarterback position to students
of all ages and skill levels.
Allen is the younger brother of Pro Football Hall of Famer Marcus Allen. The running back and analyst played for the Los Angeles Raiders (now the Las Vegas Raiders) from 1982-1992 and the
Kansas City Chiefs from 1993-1997.
Capitols Name Former All-American Offensive Line Coach
The Indianapolis Capitols today announced the hiring of former West Virginia All-American Tyler Orlosky as the team’s Offensive Line Coach. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Orlosky also serves in the same position at California (PA) of the PSAC Conference.
Orlosky will serve under newly-appointed Head Coach Mike Vanderjagt as the Capitols make their return to the Continental Football League for the first time since 1969. He is the first hire of Vanderjagt’s tenure.
Orlosky began his coaching career at WVU as an offensive graduate assistant before spending two seasons as the offensive coordinator at Ohio Dominican. He has also served on staffs at NCAA Division II Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) and Mercer (G.A.) in the NCAA FCS. During his time at ODU, Orlosky helped the program record back-to-back, seven-win seasons after playing a modified 2020 campaign in the spring of 2021. The Panthers boasted 14 offensive selections on the All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Teams in his two years with Ty Keirns being named the G-MAC Offensive Lineman of the Year as a senior in 2022.
Orlosky was a standout offensive lineman at WVU from 2012-16 while playing for Dana Holgorsen. He served as a two-time team captain for the Mountaineers and appeared in 50 career games with 42 starts. Orlosky was one of three national finalists for the Rimington Trophy as a senior and was tabbed to nine All-America Teams during his career. As a senior, WVU posted a 10-win campaign and tied for second in the Big 12 Conference before finishing No. 18 in the AP Top 25 Poll.
Following his collegiate career, Orlosky was invited to the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles before returning to WVU as a graduate assistant under Holgorsen and Neal Brown.
Orlosky earned his bachelor's degree in sport and exercise psychology from WVU in 2016. He later completed master's degrees in corporate communications and sports management from WVU.

Capitols Name Team President & Managing Partner
The Continental Football League (CoFL) today announced that the Indianapolis Capitols have entered the league as a 2027 member club, and that Lauren Boczek has been named President and Managing Partner of the club. The Capitols will be based in Indianapolis, with Grand Park in Westfield as the club’s planned practice and game-day home for the 2027 season.
The Capitols carry one of the most decorated names in the league’s history. In the original Continental Football League of 1965–1969, Indianapolis captured the 1969 Continental Cup with a 44–38 sudden-death overtime win over the San Antonio Toros — one of the signature games of that era of professional football. The club’s return to the modern CoFL puts that legacy back on the field in the market that built it.
Under Boczek’s leadership, the Capitols will build out ownership, sponsorship, and community partnerships across Central Indiana, and will operate to the CoFL’s standards-first, community-first model — a football-first product built for a city that lives and breathes the sport.
Boczek brings nearly two decades in collegiate athletics, broadcasting, and marketing to the role. A West Virginia native and West Virginia University graduate in Public Relations and Political Science, she spent 17 seasons as the arena public address announcer for WVU Women’s Basketball and has served as PA announcer and in-game host for WVU volleyball, gymnastics, and baseball. She continues to serve her alma mater on WVU Football game days as Internal Public Address Announcer — the only female to hold that role in Division I college athletics. Alongside her athletics work, Boczek leads a full-service creative agency serving restaurants, sports bars, retail brands, and medical professionals across marketing strategy, brand development, digital, and traditional media.

Grant Gremel brings a unique combination of competitive athletics, financial expertise, and leadership to his role as Vice President of Finance & Minority Owner of the Indianapolis Capitols. A four-year starting quarterback at Indiana University, Grant competed at the Division I level, where he developed the discipline, resilience, and strategic decision-making skills required to perform under pressure. He continued his football career at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, earning his MBA while competing for two additional seasons.
Before stepping into financial leadership, Grant built his career as a financial advisor, helping individuals, families, and business owners create strategies to achieve their long-term financial goals. His experience includes retirement planning, investment management, risk mitigation, and comprehensive financial planning, with a focus on delivering personalized solutions tailored to each client’s needs.
As CFO, Grant combines financial discipline with the leadership principles that shaped his athletic career. Drawing on years of experience leading teams both on and off the field, he brings a strategic mindset, accountability, and a results-driven approach to organizational growth. His commitment to teamwork, preparation, and execution helps ensure the organization operates with financial strength and long-term vision.

Her professional background spans commercial real estate, retail and restaurant development, lending, construction, and business development. Throughout her career, she has built lasting relationships with business owners, corporate leaders, developers, community organizations, and decision-makers across Indiana—bringing together the right people and opportunities to create partnerships that deliver measurable value.
Gianna brings that experience to the Indianapolis Capitols with a focus on corporate partnerships, sponsorship development, community engagement, and long-term organizational growth.
